In order to promote the integration of architecture and information and communication industries, improve the level of building intelligence, and promote the popularization of smart buildings, the Ministry of the Interior has conducted the selection of excellent smart buildings every two years since 2017.The 3rd Excellent Smart Building Works Award Ceremony was held on October 17,2022.

The ceremony invited Vice President Hung-Chun Lee of the Control Yuan and Director General Jang-Hwa Leu of Administration for Digital Industries (adi) of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda) to give a speech. The organizer, Deputy Minister Tang-An Wu of MOI awarded to the winners and also thanked all the participants for their enthusiastic support and encouragement.

Rong-Jing Wang, Director General of the Architecture and Building Research Institute of MOI, said that 12 Intelligent Building Label buildings participated in the competition for the 3rd Excellent Intelligent Building Award. After strict primary selection and on-the-spot inspection, a total of 9 works win the prize. The Excellent Smart Building Award is divided into two categories. One category is the Excellent Smart Building Contribution Award. There are 29 winners this year, including building creators, owners, governmental authorities, residents’ committee, and intelligent system integrators. The other category is the Excellent Smart Building Award. There are 14 winners this year, including architects and professional technicians.

The 9 Excellent Intelligent Building Award works of 2022 are:

1. Datong Manor (diamond-grade of residence)
2. Chicony Star Residential Building (diamond-grade of residence)
3. Wanhua Qingnian Public Housing (silver-grade of residence)
4. Composite Municipal Hospital, Tucheng, New Taipei City (BOT) Case (silver-grade of health and welfare)
5. Social Housing at No. 2 Taoyuan Middle Road, Taoyuan City (silver-grade of residence)
6. New Taipei City Shulin Art Comprehensive Administration Building (bronze -grade of culture and education)
7. Shung-Shing Construction of Chang'an East Road, HANAMI Housing (qualified-grade of residence)
8. National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences Teaching and Research Building and the Third Student Dormitory (qualified-grade of culture and education)
9. National Taiwan University Hospital Hsun-Chu Branch (qualified-grade of health and welfare)

Show-Ling Wen, Honorary President of Taiwan Intelligent Building Association, said that this year's entries are mostly residential, while others are multifunctional buildings. This year's award-winning residence works are diverse, with the majority of private residential construction projects ranging from small-scale urban renewal buildings, apartment complex, high-tech housing with intelligent facilities and equipment. Public buildings include social housing in Taipei and Taoyuan. Due to the differences in management objects, civil housing and social housing also have their own characteristics in the display of intelligence.

In order to demonstrate the excellent works of smart buildings and the continuous efforts of creators, designers, and contributors to smart systems in the sustainable development of smart buildings. The Architecture and Building Research Institute of MOI published "The 2022 Excellent Smart Building Works Album" to provide a reference for construction-related practitioners and the public, hoping to promote high-quality smart buildings and create smart living space.
